Job Summary

This role will involve leading and managing the end to end process in the acquisition or divestment of middle market investments in East Africa for companies in the $5m – $15m EBITDA range.  He/She will also lead in the preparation of business case and supporting documentation to execute transaction opportunities which will involve support to the Director(s) in the preparation and presentation to the Investment Committee. In addition, the individual will assist in developing business networks to find new investment Targets/Opportunities

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Lead on research industry and market data to support the development of investment strategies and transaction opportunities
  2. Develop ideas deal structuring on transactions
  3. Contribute to the investment thesis and identification of value creation strategies and exit options
  4. Initiate due diligence process including overseeing modelling, valuation and analysis prepared by junior colleagues
  5. Initiate and coordinate discussions with internal sector experts and external advisors to lead the due diligence process and validation of the business case including identification of key transaction issues
  6. Work with legal, tax and other internal teams, through the transaction execution process, including ensuring transaction documentation and structuring are consistent with the business case
  7. Prepare investment committee presentation material and other documents as necessary to secure institutional and regulatory support for transaction
  8. Assist in organization and co-ordination of large working groups to complete the execution of a transaction
  9. Conduct special projects as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • An Accounting Designation or 
  • CFA or CAIA Designation/Ongoing
  • Master’s Designation or any other relevant advanced degree ( added advantage)
  • Excellent financial modelling, valuation and corporate financing
  • 4 years plus experience in private equity in emerging markets
  • Experience in the deployment of equity and debt investments
  • Existing relationships within the East African M&A deal sourcing and investment banking community a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strategic thinker with analytical and creative problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently and pro-actively in a fast-paced environment
  • Leadership skills including the ability to provide direction and coaching to team members
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience of working towards delivering operational targets through project management
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge gained from studies and training in professional environment
  • Ability to provide direction and training to junior team members

Job Brief

The Private Wealth Advisor’s role is to increase Assets Under Management for the organization through the sale of Private Wealth products in line with set targets.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Develop a knowledge of the client’s entire financial situation and be able to structure a goals-based investment and financial plan.
  2. Develop and deliver private wealth education presentations and sessions to clients and prospects.
  3. Develop relationships with management teams of institutions, as well as cultivating relationships with key industry players in listed and non-listed space
  4. Collaborates with the Investment Management and Enablement Teams regarding investment strategy and client portfolio structure.
  5. Provide market feedback to facilitate the development of new and enhancement of existing products that meet client needs. Provide product recommendations
  6. Continuously update and provide feedback on client FAQs
  7. Generate and update sales customer relationship management system
  8. Maintain a deal pipeline and continuously update on progress
  9. Participate in training IFAs on Nabo products
  10. Assist in the development of a competitive commission structure and provide feedback on market
  11. Drive business results and acquire new assets under management through selling financial products to the existing client base and new client acquisition.
  12. Ability to generate KES 100 Mn in sales per month through selling financial products to existing clients and new clients
  13. Develop a knowledge of client’s financial needs and be able to communicate a goals-based investment plan to meet their needs
  14. Provide market feedback to facilitate the development of new products and enhancement of existing products
  15. Continuously update and provide feedback on client FAQs
  16. Generate and update customer sales log
  17. Maintain a deal pipeline and continuously update on progress

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field (Investments, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration)
  • Enrolled in or progress toward a related professional course and/or certificate (CFA, ACCA, CPA, CAIA)
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in investment management
  • Strong knowledge of MS tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Have a good understanding of investment products in general
  • Have existing relationships that meet the profile of a Nabo client
