Vacant Position: Operational Risk & Compliance Manager

Department: Risk & Compliance

Reports To: Senior Risk & Compliance Manager

Working Hours: Flexible

Purpose: An exciting opportunity has become available for one on Africa’ leading BPO companies’ Kenyan site. The Operational Risk & Compliance Managers’ role is dedicated to the identification, coordination, treatment, management of risks and compliance weaknesses within the business. This role performs the following activities to prevent significant reputational, financial or other loss to company and its clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Client

  • Ensure the right quality of monitoring in relation to advisory, guidance and assurance services.
  • Delivery of sustainable embedment of Risk, Compliance and Business Resilience Management capabilities
  • Identify, support, advise and monitor, priorities regulatory requirements for the applicable areas of business that is aligned with the Standardized Program of Work
  • Report and resolve issues of non-compliance to the Senior Risk and Compliance Manager
  • initiate, facilitate, and promote activities to create risk awareness within the organisation,

People

  • Support the operations team in achieving contractual and regulatory obligations by;
  • Driving awareness and knowledge growth via coaching

Finance

  • Identify, promote and gain support for improvement opportunities that will increase revenue and or reduce operating costs

Risk & Process

  • Support the Senior Operations Risk and Compliance Manager with the execution of a fit-for-purpose approach to Risk Management best practices
  • Driving ongoing operational Risk management responsibility once programs and projects transition to Business as Usual
  • Perform and coordinate assessments, analysis, rating, and provide treatment recommendation using the established risk management framework
  • Delivers risk assessments and guidance on the appropriate risk control strategies,
  • Proactively manage and identify risks to the organisation and assist the business by specifying adequacy of control and validating the effectiveness of controls implemented
  • Manage, and develop business personnel knowledge to ensure better information protection and management of risk and compliance, leads through awareness, training and workshops
  • Establishing compliance performance indicators for staff members within the business
  • Support with the development and rollout of the company’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Disaster Recovery Program (DRP)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Grade 12 or Equivalent
  • Tertiary education or equivalent NQF level 5
  • Post graduate diplomas / qualifications in the field of risk, compliance and/or business resilience management will be an advantage; or an equivalent combination of training and experience (GSIP / GSLC / CISA / CISM / CRISC would be advantageous)
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in business industry, including financial and payment services industry, with a preferred focus on the development or implementation of risk management programs
  • 1 year relevant operational risk management. Industry relevant experience will be an advantage
  • 5 years legal or compliance experience in designing and implementing compliance policies and frameworks
  • Registered as a Compliance Officer with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority would be highly advantageous
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong understanding of business operating models and structures
  • Understanding of effective compliance monitoring
  • Compliance experience within a call centre environment advantageous
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoints, Word, Outlook
  • Time management skills and the ability to demonstrate flexibility
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercise good judgement, think critically, multi-task, and prioritise work in a changeable environment.
