Context: Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is the leading Swiss child relief organization, based in Lausanne (Switzerland). Every year our projects support more than 3 million children and their families in over 35 countries. We are part of the Terre des hommes International Federation, with 9 other sister organizations in Switzerland, Europe and Canada.

Tdh provides support to children in Dadaab refugee camp and in Korogocho slums. Tdh also implements health and nutrition projects in Garissa County.

Main Responsibilities

  • Planning and implementation of the advocacy component of the Project.
  • With support from Project Manager, conduct research/assessments/studies on ECD issues at community, county and national level to generate evidence to inform global community practice and policy choices at national level.
  • Develop ECD advocacy strategy for 3 years and a work plan and track the progress of objectives and activities.
  • Conduct sessions/trainings for community, ECD staffs, and local administration to inform understanding about Early Childhood Development.
  • Identify and participate in networks with relevant stakeholders and partners to build strategic relationships on key policy issues and advocacy opportunities including influencing existing National ECD Framework.
  • Develop and continually update ECD advocacy briefs to provide updates to stakeholders on relevant activities and accomplishments.
  • Represent Tdh in relevant governance, planning and lobby meetings at Sub county, county and national level.

  • He/she commits to observe discretion on any information related to the organisation functioning and beneficiary related issues


  • Bachelor’ degree required in a discipline relevant to ECD
  • 3 years’ experience working in advocacy related to ECD
  • Strong policy advocacy skills and ability to negotiate and network with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent advocacy, lobbying and training skills.

Abuse Prevention Policy – Operational Risk Management

  • Commit to respect Tdh Risk Management Policies including: Child Safeguarding Policy, Safety and Security Policy and Anti-Fraud/Corruption Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy
  • Commit to ensure the best implementation possible of the Tdh Risk Management Policies
  • Commit to inform supervisors and to deal with any cases, allegations, or possibility of transgression, even potential, of the Tdh Risk Management Policies.
